About Megan
Megan has practiced as a Dance/Movement Psychotherapist in the following settings: Rehabilitation Programs for Adolescents, Schools and Family Centres, Children’s Hospitals, Psychiatric Hospitals and Outpatient Programs, Programs for Children and Adults with Developmental Disabilities and Long-Term Care. She is particularly interested in the role the body plays in trauma recovery.
Her professional studies have included methods of psychotherapy and counselling, developmental theory, family systems, group therapy, various creative arts therapy methods, anatomy, movement analysis, arts education, the relationship between therapy and education, and the application of Dance/Movement Psychotherapy in different settings.
Megan draws from over twelve years of performance experience, yoga practice and engagement with various body based practices, such as authentic movement, improvisation and voice training. She has ten years of experience teaching dance and movement education for organizations such as the Toronto District School Board, the Canadian Children’s Dance Theatre and the National Ballet of Canada’s outreach programs.
Megan’s Masters in Dance/Movement Psychotherapy was awarded by Roehampton University in London, England. Her research consisted of a qualitative study on working with adolescents in a residential therapeutic boarding school. She earned her BFA in Dance from York University in 2001.
Megan is a member of OACCPP. (The Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists)
